Israel Aircraft Industries will Overhaul El-Al's Freighter Engines

Ben-Gurion International Airport, 4 September 2001 - An agreement for the cooperation between Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI)'s BEDEK Aviation Group / Engines Division, and Israel's national carrier, El-Al, stating that IAI will overhaul JT9D-7Q type engines, on board El-Al's 747-200 freighters was signed yesterday (Sep. 3, 2001).

The agreement was signed by Mr. David Hermesh, El-Al's CEO and by Mr. Moshe Keret, IAI's President and CEO. The contract is estimated to have a value of $7 million per year.

The agreement is considered a supplement to an existing agreement between the two companies for the overhaul of passenger aircraft's engines of the same model.

During the signing ceremony, which took place at El-Al's Headquarters in Ben-Gurion International Airport, (Lod, Israel) El-Al's CEO, David Hermesh spoke about the long and lasting business cooperation between the two companies. He also mentioned that this agreement is considered an additional step in that cooperation and that it expresses the excellent working relations the two companies have in the field of aircraft engines.

Moshe Keret, IAI's President and CEO, said that: " A signing ceremony like this kind strengthens the cooperation between El-Al and Israel Aircraft Industries. This is an important step in these days in which we have to deal with hardships, both domestic and foreign. We are satisfied by this cooperation, and I believe that this cooperation between the companies will continue to grow in the future".
