DSP - Digital Signal Processoring Modules

A salient architectural feature of the EPSP family is its wide range of scaleable inter-module networking, the FreeWay. It supports small, directly linked configurations as well as very large, dynamically switched systems. At the high end, a powerful backbone FreeWay network provides a multitude of dynamically configured, concurrent, non-blocking high bandwidth inter-module links.

The EPSP family is supported by an extensive set of software. A parallel, distributed real-time operating system coordinates all signal processing and control tasks. A Compiler, linker and simulator support high-level 'C' language development and unit testing on low cost PC/Windows platforms. Resource allocation tools help to build the set of executable code and system structures downloaded to the machine.

A parallel system, source level and machine state debugger provides a window into the concurrent status of each and every processor register, memory location and link-port in the system, as well as any of the higher system-level entities such as Task, Mail-Box and Message. Special hardware designed into the EPSP architecture supports all these. Debugger breakpoints can stop and resume the execution of a full-scale system comprised of hundreds of processors within one to three clock periods.

The product line is offered in either PCI, VME or a military SEM-E form-factor, in a commercial or an extended temperature range versions. All these versions feature the same architecture and are fully software compatible. ELTA provides various packaging options compatible with a wide range of environmental conditions, military and commercial.

Elta designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) scaleable, modular DSP products based on the Analog Devices Inc. SHARC DSP chip.

The PPM is a SEM-E module comprised of 16 SHARC DSPs. The PPM is a member of Elta's Programmable Signal Processors (EPSP) family.
